Franken Region

The Franken region is spread throughout the far northern part of the German Federal State of Bavaria along the Main River as it flows from East to West. The popular tourist attraction commonly called the “Romantic Road” starts in Franken in the beautiful town of Würzburg before it heads South toward Austria. Franken is probably best known for the unusual shape of its traditional bottle called “bocksbeutel.” Bocksbeutal bottles have a very wide round shape making in look like a magic potion from some fairy tale. Franken’s most common grape varietals are müller-thurgau (“rivaner”) and silvaner.
